Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for Sinusitis

Sinusitis is a common disease. It is primarily treated by medical treatment options. (meaning "antibiotics, nasal drops, douches etc..)
Surgery was reserved for severe cases.

The situation has changed a bit.

Paranasal sinuses ("Sinuses") are air filled cavities within the skull. They are lined by a mucosa which secretes mucus. These secretions drain in to the nose - particularly at a site called "Osteomeatal Complex". Obstruction at this site can lead to sinusitis.

Therefore a relatively new concept has emerged called
"Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery". In this form of treatment surgeon clears the opening of the affected sinus mainly the osteomeatal complex region.
This provides dramatic and long lasting relief of symptoms.
