Submitted by Nice Doctor on Sat, 10/31/2009 - 19:21.Due to busy life style we tend to keep food refrigerated. Sometimes more than we really should! Recently a friend of mine sent me a link to this website. I think it is worthwhile having a look.

Peace of Mind and Happiness
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Sun, 09/27/2009 - 07:08.In my opinion, the most important objective of the life is to achieve peace and happiness.
After all, thats what we try to do everyday when we feed our senses, isn't it?
How many of us are really fortunate enough to achieve that in our lives?
Competition, lack of time, stress etc etc is blamed for this. We are in an elusive state, "when that thing is done I will be happy".
This has health implications too. worsening of migraine, peptic ulceration, anxiety and other neurotic problems are some of the well known conditions that could get worse by this.
Heart attacks in Sri Lankans
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Sun, 07/05/2009 - 12:22.There is an alarming rise in heart attacks in Sri Lankans. Patients tend be younger than previously. Among many factors contributing to this, food habits and distancing one self from the nature seem to be important.
I read this news article which should be very informative for our readers.

Sick Leave
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Thu, 04/09/2009 - 07:11.I fell ill! Yes, sometimes doctors fall sick too. When I become sick ( which is a very rare event by any standard ), I really become very sick. I could not go to work the whole week this time. Fever, nausea, runny nose, diarrhoea, looks like a bad viral infection. I feel terrible.
I am so accustomed to get up everyday and go to hospital, and deviation of that routine is very distressing.
I feel sorry for the patients that come to clinics and theatre lists, although there will be someone to cover the work. I feel guilty.
Is this just me, or all/most doctors feel this way?
Revalidation for doctors
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Tue, 01/13/2009 - 15:08.Today I am going to write on a hot topic discussed in the medical communities worldwide. That is revalidation / re licensing for doctors. I am sure this is going to be interesting topic for our users to comment upon.
Revalidation is the process where doctors are tested in a periodic basis to see whether they are up to date. This obviously needs to be done by a competent authority like the Medical Council.
There are couple of reasons why such a process is important.
Medical Knowledge is evolving
Stress
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 23:52.“Stress” - everyone says that they are stressed these days. It is so common a complaint. What is stress after all. It is when you think that you cant do what you think that you are expected to do. The key word is “think”. It is what you “think”. Yes it ultimately boils down to your mental arithmetic. So it is up to you to sort it out too. Isn't it?
New Year - A New Feature!
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Thu, 01/01/2009 - 17:22.Dear Laksuwa Users,
We wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!
Laksuwa.Com has been endeavoring to bring relevant and accurate health information to Sri Lankans.
We are sure that Laksuwa.Com would have helped to bridge the gap between Sri Lankan medical information and the general public. Laksuwa.com fills a vacuum that exists in the Sri Lankan cyberspace in this respect. We are very happy and proud about it.
A new addition would be a regular blog which we are introducing from this month. The current plan is to write about common health issues - not only diseases - but anything and everything related to health.
Users can comment on author's opinions and suggestions.
Please feel free to send your comments and suggestions so that we can write better.
