Flood victims and risk of epidemics

With recent heavy rains, mainly Kaluthara, Kegalle, Rathnapura, Colombo, Gampaha and Galle are districts affected by flood.

Theres a risk of epidemics of diarrhoea, respiratory tract infections and other infectious diseases with this menace.

Preventive health sector of Sri Lanka has taken several methods to overcome this. Citizens are advised to drink boiled water,to wash vegetables, green leaves thoroughly before cooking, to isolate people with infectious diseases in the victim camps.

With the flood, there's an increase of breeding places for mosquitoes. people are advised to eradicate breeding places, to use mosquito nets whenever possible and to use mosquito coils whenever needed.
