Answer
Dear User
HIV viral infection can be caused by HIV 1 or HIV 2.
Both types are transmitted by sexual contact, through blood, and from mother to child, and they appear to cause clinically indistinguishable AIDS.
Worldwide, the predominant virus is HIV-1, and generally when people refer to HIV without specifying the type of virus they will be referring to HIV-1.
The relatively uncommon HIV-2 type is concentrated in West Africa and is rarely found elsewhere.
Serological tests are fairly accurate. If there was test positivity, you should see a specialist.

HIV-1
Thank you. I am scared to see a specialist because of publicity. The report was--the first screening test for HIV 1/2-showed a reaction. The second (confirmatory) test for HIV-1 was indeterminate. and Nucleic Acid test was negative. So what does this really mean? I had a trans vaginal scan done (3 months prior to this blood donation) in an area where there were lot of black immmigrants.Apart from the causes that you have mentioned, could this tvs have caused this? Please enlighten on this, and depending on your next reply I would then consider in seeing a specialist.
Best to see a specialist!
Don't worry about "publicity". Doctors are bound by code of ethics that include privacy and confidentiality.
If the confirmatory and nucleic acid tests are negative, you may not be infected and that would probably be very good news for you!
Re. TVS, it is very doubtful that this could cause any concern as aseptic techniques are generally used.
As your case is not clear cut, i think it is best to see a specialist to assess your case.
